About

The Assayer

TDK240VAULT works with archives, collections, institutions, researchers, artists and cultural organisations.

We help identify hidden connections, map dispersed sources and transform fragmented materials into meaningful forms of public knowledge. Our work combines archival research, historical investigation, narrative design and cultural strategy. Sometimes this means reconstructing a forgotten biography. Sometimes, reactivating a collection. Sometimes it means designing an exhibition, a publication, a research programme or a public narrative.

But archives are only the beginning.

We do not approach archives as repositories of the past. We approach them as systems of transmission. As places where visibility is organised, legitimacy is negotiated and memory is produced. The same questions that emerge in archives also emerge elsewhere: in museums, in collections, in institutions, in cultural narratives, in heritage practices, and in the mechanisms through which certain histories continue to circulate while others disappear.

Our work therefore extends beyond archives themselves. It addresses the infrastructures through which memory, visibility, value and meaning are produced, circulated and sustained across time.

We are interested in…

  1. 01How traces survive.
  2. 02How narratives acquire authority.
  3. 03How collections become heritage.
  4. 04How forgotten histories reappear.
  5. 05How cultural value is created, transmitted and transformed.

At its core, TDK240VAULT studies the conditions under which things appear, persist, circulate and acquire value.

Through research, investigation and narrative architecture, we help organisations understand not only what they hold, but what their collections, archives and histories are capable of becoming.

A network
